Week of 3 March 2014
Bright and early Monday morning, Clem, our tour guide and his three drivers, Ricco, Louie and Robert loaded us up to begin our journey.  One van with E/S Kresge and E/S Pitts went to Baguio and the other two vans with E/S Larsen, S Lake & S Samuel, E/S Dial, E/S Gozart,  President & S Wong and us were headed to the Provinces, which included the mountain rice terraces.
Leaving the Manila muck!

Leaving the Manila muck!

I want one of these!

Tricycles are everywhere!
Hauling hay
No sudden stops.......
Third generation rickshaw known as a tricycle
Tricycles haul about anything!
Tricycle
Did somebody say, "McDonalds"?

First stop - the Comfort Room!  I use that term loosely
because you have to bring your own tissue, put it in the
garbage can by the toilet after use, then use a bucket of water
to flush the toilet.  Some are actually really clean, but you
have to pay a fee to use them.  Trust me, it is worth
the 3-10 pecos which is 2-25 cents!

"Second generation rickshaw" or maybe can't afford
to buy a scooter.

Next stop - coconut break:
Clem our tour guide and Pres. & Sister Wong of the
Temple Presidency

The Coconut Hut

E/S Dial

Cutting the coconut

My first drink of coconut milk - the jury is still out on
this one!

Picking the right one

Ingredients for Halo Halo a very yummy treat.  It has crushed
ice in the bottom, coconut milk, fruits, hard jello balls and
a small scope of ice cream on top.

Used coconut shells drying in the sun

On the road again:

We finally arrive in Banaue after a 12 hour
twisty, bumpy ride!
