Here I am sitting in our apartment, looking out the sliding glass door at the overcast, gloomy sky and a gentle breeze blowing the trees, and a sudden shiver hits me. I look at the calendar and it is 20 October. Hmm...it must be Fall with a cooler breeze. The calendar doesn't lie right? I step outside to breathe in the cool Autumn air and Ugh!!!! It is 82 degrees with 98% humidity, which feels like 90 degrees. The cool breeze I felt comes from the air conditioner and the trees look exactly like they did when we arrived last February: green, green, green! How does one feel the change of the seasons when there really aren't any here? How does one remember the smell of wood smoke and a crackling fire, and snow that needs to be shovelled? I look at a picture on my iPad of home taken before we left:
I can smell and feel the warmth of this fire!
To all of you who are feeling the "shivers" of the season, enjoy it! We are missing the cooler temperatures, changing leaves and all that goes with it. We are however, in our 4th season - wetter. This is to continue until the end of November. Christmas will be interesting and we will see how it all turns out.
A few "this and thats"
Besides the change of seasons, we are missing the night skies. I got this picture off of Facebook and it is of the Milky Way above Bryce Canyon. With all the city lights and usually cloudy skies, we don't have the opportunity to see the moon or stars. We really miss them!
More signs:
Chowking is a fast food place. I
suppose this sign could either be
taken as good or bad.
Okay... and just how do I take my feet off?
At a service station where men
were painting the canopy over
the gas pumps.
Focus on the "Male Bed-Spacer"
which is a room for rent for a male.
Room for a lady
Hmm....
I just love the signs here!!!! Not much else going on...
Parting thoughts:
"If we follow the counsel given by the prophets, we can have a life in mortality where we do not bring upon ourselves unnecessary pain and self-destruction. This does not mean we will not have challenges. We will. This does not mean we will not be tested. We will, for this is part of our purpose on earth. But if we will listen to the counsel of our prophet, we will become stronger and be able to withstand the tests of mortality. We will have hope and joy. All the words of counsel from the prophets of all generations have been given so that we may be strengthened and then be able to lift and strengthen others."
—Robert D. Hales, "Hear the Prophet's Voice and Obey"
And...
Much love to you all! RWYA and KoKo!
